We hired the firm Larose-McCallum Architectes to design and build a three-level extension to our home. My husband and I wanted a modern structure that would blend in with our traditional brick cottage and respect Mont-Royal’s environment.
Both architects led us through the entire design and construction process with utmost professionalism. We collaborated with them as a team. They listened carefully to take into account our needs and aspirations. Marc-Antoine was in charge of daily monitoring the site, supervising every step of the design and construction process.
We started out with a simple idea. In the following weeks and months, that idea evolved into a complete construction design of an extension in galvanized zinc and glass. The balcony overlooking the garden on the main floor became an extension of the renovated kitchen and the new laundry-bathroom. The balcony on the second floor is now a study with panoramic windows. The space beneath the kitchen extension is now a guest bedroom.
Throughout the process, Marc-Antoine focused on the project as whole, while paying attention to aesthetic details, budget technicalities, construction schedules, building permits, etc. We participated in the weekly planning meetings with the various contractors, and we were quite involved in the ongoing planning, construction and evaluation process led by the architects. Marc-Antoine kept us informed during every critical project milestone.
We are very pleased with the outcome, which is truly spectacular. Our home was rather dark. It has become a haven of light and peace that opens onto a garden that turns green, red or white according to the seasons. Our friends and visitors are stunned by the transformation.
Working with the firm Larose-McCallum Architectes was a real pleasure. We recommend their services to whoever wants to work with a team of architects who are innovative, passionate, always looking for new materials and designs. A young team with several important projects under their belt, filled with dreams and a brilliant future in Quebec, but also among great international architectural firms.
